- Rigorous and Interdisciplinary Academics: Students delve into subjects like World Literature, Comparative Literature, and Self-Determinism, while exploring the depths of Physics (Optics), Chemistry (Biochemistry), Biology (Zoology), and advanced science electives. History courses delve into US history, economics, history of consciousness, and history through architecture.
- Emphasis on the Arts: Music, drama, and visual arts are integral components of the twelfth-grade experience. Students participate in a Senior Play, engage in choral and instrumental music, and explore visual arts through mediums like stone sculpture, clay portraits, expressionism, and environmental art. Eurythmy, a movement art form unique to Waldorf education, also continues to be a part of the curriculum.
- Independent Senior Project: A cornerstone of the senior year is the independent, year-long Senior Project, where students embark on in-depth explorations of chosen topics, culminating in a written and oral presentation. This fosters independence, creativity, and problem-solving skills essential for future success.
- Experiential Learning: The curriculum emphasizes a hands-on and interdisciplinary approach. Students engage in science experiments, summarize historical accounts, write essays, and create compositions in their main lesson books. Math is taught through a combination of main lessons and track classes to cater to different ability levels, often utilizing manipulatives and real-world applications.
- Preparation for College and Beyond: The twelfth grade year is a time for synthesis and culmination, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of college and adulthood. Waldorf graduates are highly sought after by colleges and universities, known for their adaptability, creativity, problem-solving skills, and independent thinking. A significant percentage of Waldorf graduates attend college and feel well-prepared for higher education.
By focusing on a well-rounded curriculum, fostering critical thinking, and providing opportunities for in-depth exploration through independent projects, the Earthschooling Waldorf twelfth grade empowers students to become lifelong learners and engaged citizens.
The twelfth grade year contains many enriching and exciting lessons for the 12th grade Waldorf student. For a complete list of classes see the list below. You can also download the full chart of lessons with credits at the top of the list below.
Lifetime Member Note: The Lifetime curriculum does not include high school - even for old members. The high school program has been converted into a Living Lessons Only Program which is not owned by Earthschooling completely. For this reason, we cannot include it as one of “our” published curriculum packages. It is only possible to get access to this program by purchasing it on its own through WaldorfSchoolOnline.com . It is also still available for purchase at Earthschooling.com. However, it is not considered part of the Earthschooling curriculum. If you already have access your access will continue. The natural well-being classes are owned by The Avicenna Institute.
